Israel's Media Watch works to ensure fairness, transparency and upholding the codes of ethics in the Israeli media.

Israel's Media Watch (IMW) was established in 1995 as a leading non-governmental media related organization.IMW works for the benefit of the general public and informs it the extent that  the various media outlets comply with media ethics, fairness and pluralism.

IMW tracks the Israeli media, conducts studies relating to the media, reports and publishes its findings.

IMW deals on a daily basis with complaints from the public about ethics violations or media bias, releases them to the public, and settles them with the media outlets. IMW encourages the public to be a full partner and to take part in the Israeli media experience.

IMW works to promote the proper use of the Hebrew language in the media.

IMW's Values

• Strengthen democracy by providing reliable information to the public about the media and the degree of compliance with the code of ethics, transparency and fairness.

• Create a systematic review and tracking of the media, and expose political, cultural and gender related media bias.

• Encourage the public's involvement in media ethics issues and assure enforcement of the media regulations by the oversight bodies responsible for them.

IMW believes that the media should play an essential role in upholding the democratic values of Israel as a Jewish State. It provides check and balances to all three branches of government, but needs the public to provide the necessary checks and balances to assure proper functioning of the media itself.  IMW believes that a fair and Zionist oriented media, sensitive to the special needs of Israeli society is essential for Israel.
